"The dictionary doesnt have the right word to explain how i feel now" says ummul,a cerebral palsy affected girl on her college convocation day.she passed out of M.O.P vaishnav college with B.A sociology.inspite of being physically challenged,ummul with her sheer confidence,opyimistic approach and inner strength has achieved this level.she is unlike other girls graduating every year.she is undoubtedly someone special..met this achiever at vidyasagar home for an article to my magazine.first thing i noticed about her was her unstriking confidence

let me explain her condition first.she has been affected by cerebral palsy,a brain defect since childhood.cerebral palsy is a brain dysfunction in which the motor functions of the brain is affected and hence both the hands and legs are immovable except 2 fingers.poor memory,disrupted speech also troubled herjust because of her condition she was not sent to school till 12 years of age.almost 12 years she was at home with wheelchair as her soul supportout of her own interest she started learning english alphabets at the age of 16.when asked about her schooling she excitedly says.."those few years were the most happiest moments in my life. I did my 10th exams in a private school in which there will be 6 months gap between each exam exclusively for special kids like me. i wanted to join school but my choice was not special school.my dream to study with the normal children came true when kindhearted principal of lady andal school gave me a seat.i managed to finish my plus 2 exams within 2 years with the help of my friends.i used to record my teachers notes and learn slowly by listening to it.we used to have good fun which i had missed all through my dry childhood.i never knew about the outside world until i started studying..

ummul has passed plus 2 with reasonable marks after which she joined M.O.P vaishnav college.this might sound simple but life has not been that easy for ummul. getting ready to college itself has been a huge for this girl.she has to get up at 3am for 8am college hour,as it will take ample of time to just do her basic things and get ready.."i know iam slow,but picked up little speed after years of physiotherapy excercise.iam 30 now,i would have finished my college studies at the right age if my parents had sent me to school at the right age.lack of awareness about my problem was my major drawback" reasons ummul

she is recently back from america after a month leadership programme.right now she is a first year law student in ambedkar law college chennai.ummul cant remember names and numbers,she has failed several times in her school hisrory exams.but as far as i watched her everything is possible according to her.." law is a great challenge to me,hope i complete 4 years of law and defnetly one day will fight for the fundamental rights of physically challenged" says an evidently angry ummul

I have seen children who do not study inspite of good health and all the hitech facilities at home.amomg such lazy students ummul stands unique.her thirst to study speaks volumes about the importance of learning in one's life..

I quit the habit of complaining after i met this girl..

usual hangout places are big 'no" to some of the rare group of youngsters. they meet every weekend for a good cause.happened to meet such good hearted college goers for an article to my magazine.these young people are surprisingly responsible and truly committed to social work.small service organisations are run by Group of young people with the only purpose to help the needy.these dedicated youth are true icon who deserves to be emulated.

"i have money,if i think of the people who dont have,i couldn't sleep" says kanchi kailasam,head of this service organisation.like kanchi, group of students from well to do family work sincerely in the weekend to help the needy.adopted more than 12 children and provide all the essential educational expenses out of their own pocket money.when asked about their future prospects.."this is not our passtime,we are going to seriously take up this social work once we finish our studies" says a final year law student.

young,enthusiastic,dedicated final year MBBS students of ramachandra medical college formed this service organisation.the main aim of this group is to serve for the betterment and upliftment of the social condition of ramavaram slum people. they adopted the entire slum and work hard to improve their state of well being .relief measures are well planned so that the background in which they live can be changed. conduct free medical camps with the help of the senior doctors and the fund for this purpose is raised from the college students."we strive hard to build self reliance in their minds.we are responsible for this" says niveditha a final year MBBS student. these medical students are beacon of hope for the people in ramavaram.

"I had never won in dance" surprises Prabhudeva

"I had never won in a dance competition" admits prabhudeva who is still revered as southindian michael jackson .i met him on the sets of "ungalil yaru adutha prabhudeva?",a dance reality show.vijay tv has been in a serious hunt for next prabhudeva.i couldn't believe when a dance genius says that he had not won even a single prize for dance.at this point i remember playback singer chitra once told me that she was given second prize in a competion.

i was given just 10 minutes to talk to prabhudeva as he was busy with the shooting..but in those few minutes i got a good message about reality shows from him.the message is clear that the competitions are just for active participation.winning and losing will not decide the successfull future of either the winner nor the loser..after reading this blog dont crumble next time when you lose a competition.here iam writing some of the interesting answers from prabhudeva.

generally in school there would be a helpless boy targeted by teachers and repeatedly abused by them.i was actualy such kind of helpless boy in my school days.was not interested in studies and hence remained the poorest student in class.negative comments fro teachers caused a lot of damage to my self worth.but now a tv show on my name is a real pride to me.i take it in a positive way that boosts my self esteem.

Usualy in reality shows criticising a person after a performance seem to be unethical..what do you say?there can be no reality shows without criticism.they are actualy famous for the critical comments.but i cannot..i realy cannot comment on anybody's dance after a tiring performance.thats why iam here as a specialguest today encouraging the dancers,defnetly will not take up the role as a reality show judge.

yes..i have participated in many dance competitions but i had never won.but i grew up with a passion for dance.never missed my dance classes but would happily miss my tutition classes.i discontinued my studies after plus one.took up dance as my fulltime work.afterthat no looking back till now..

By any chance can we avoid kutthu dances in tamil cinema?

we have been to theatres..have we ever seen a person dancing and enjoying himself for a western song? kutthu dance entertain the audience and it is for the mass.we cannot deny the fact that we are making movie for the mass.so we cannot avoid kutthudance in a commercial film.

A.R rahman wins oscar. his remarkable musical journey had hit a high note with this unprecedented victory. this musical genius has left an indellible impression in world music."rahman nominated for oscars"..all the news channels flashed this breaking news.rahman was the busiest man ever after the oscar nomination.at this juncture rahman did a wonderful humanitarian deed which is unimaginable.will let you know that incident at the end of this blog.

rahman lured the entire generation with his magical compositions.he is an infallible music composer who comes out with a new innovation in every song.humility and discipline this is what makes rahman so special.at the time of oscar nomination the nation was focussing only on his achievements and every newspaper and magazine carried his interview or some article related to rahman..but uniquely i wanted to meet the reasonable person behind this successful man.who else this could be? undoubtedly his mother kareema begaum.she spoke to me in an interview to my magazine about rahman's arduous musical journey..

"rahman does'nt know anything other than music"mumbles rahman's mom exactly like him."he had very few friends, had never hung out with his friends and absolutely no fun that a regular teenager of his age would have.he would be always in his room composing music.he kept working very hard without expecting anything in return.'amma,let me work hard,success will defnetly come on my own way"..this is often told by rahman to me .remembers kareema madam

stunned by his achievement, world is happily celebrating.but his mother worried about rahman not eating properly."i will be happy only when i see my son eating at the right time.he skips his meal and sometimes even forget to eat though he is fond of my cooking" says this simple mother.when asked about slumdog glory..she says an interesting incident."when he was 5 year old he participated in a doordarshan channel's musiacal programme 'wonderbaloon". in that programme rahman played 3 keyboard at a time.when that programme was telecasted rahman was talk of our little town.rahman had the habit of surprising the audience at a tender age.and now slumdog millionaire is the talk.the world is excited but rahman is at his next film's recording.he does'nt take success to his head,this is an important lesson that i personaly learnt from my son"..signs off rahman's mom kareema begum with a humble smile.

coming back to that incident which i mentioned earlier..at the time of oscar nominations,when the world was applauding this maestro,there was a call from rahman himself from newyork to my magazine's photographer.he asked for one of our late senior reporter's contact number.that reporter died due to severe illness.he used to take rahman's interview everytime.rahman contacted this reporter's wife enquired about him,expressed his condolence and apologised for not attenting his funeral.just imagine..rahman would have had innumerable work when he was on top of the world.remembering a simple reporter at that time is simply superb.i was touched by his humility.this humanity in him makes him a special lovable humanbeing.rahman is unimaginably humble inspite of being an extraordinary winner.

off the record 2

hi..this is my second episode of off the record in which i reveal the off the records of my interviews with the celebrities whom i had met for my magazine..

naughty odo..

odo is actress simran's kid.i fixed an appointment with simran for a coverstory in my magazine..she accepted the interview with the only condition to put herself and her son odo in our wrapper...convincing my editor for the cover page is not that easy..just to make a different wrapper we decided to work with simran..finally we fixed up a time with simran at her residence.the time that was fixed was 9.30 pm..though it is little late for me i accepted it just because iam meeting simran..myself and my photographer reached her residence at 9pm..cute little odo opened the door and welcomed us..odo is a very friendly kid looking exactly like simran,he dint take much time to mingle with us..i could see more than 100 different variety of cars in the drawing room and show case full of cars..he was talking only about the cars..simran came little late around 10.30 pm..she was very simple not that glamorous in person but was very attractive..she couldnt even speak to me as she was very hungry..she had her dinner with our permission and offered us gulab jamuns..surprisingly slim beauty simran's dinner was little heavy..soup,big bowl full of ladysfinger fry,1 bowl dhal,2 plates rice,4 gulabjamuns..in the meanwhile i had an interesting conversation with odo..there was a huge car in his house which was gifted by actor danush for his birthday.later we came to know that the little odo is danush's adrant fan..he was explaining to me about the seating arrangements in his huge car..he told me that he will drive the car with his mom in the front,his dad and freinds at the back seat..i unnecessary asked him where would i sit in his car..naughty odo quickly replied ''you in the dikki''..everybody including simran burst out of laughter..for me it was embarassing but i somehow managed..then we started the photoshoot and interview at around 11pm..cute little odo cooperated well for the photo as a result the photos turned out good..i got back home at 12pm but it was not tiresome as i enjoyed working with simran and her interesting kid..simran was very sweet,she dint try to impress me with some artificial talk,she was just herself which is very special about her..simi's husband deepak helped her for the entire photoshoot managing odo..the article turned out really well with simran and odo on the wrapper..

agressive laila..

we always see laila as a sweet,bubly,joyful lady but i feel its just an onscreen image.she was very rude to me in person and i personaly had a very bad experience with laila.i approached laila for an interview about her married life and her 2yr old son darian..that time she was in mumbai,so we fixed up a telephonic interview.in course of the interview she asked me whether her photo could be carried out in our magazine wrapper.we dint promise her anything about the wrapper because we were not sure about the photos. as said by my editor i told her that we would put her in the wrapper only if she could give us wonderful pics.she assured us for good pics.as she was not in town we were not able to click pics with her son as we did for simran.after a week she mailed us few pics with her son.those pics were good but of low resolution and defnetly not a wrapper quality picture.so we could not make it to the wrapper,but it was our poster that week.the article got published with nice pics.that day i saw 12 missed calls from laila in my mobile.i called her as soon as i reached office.at the other end she shouted like hell for not carring out the wrapper.she abused me,used all sorts of filthy language dint even gave a chance to me to explain our condition.i never expected this from laila as i have always seen her in a soft,innocent look onscreen..but soon realised that it was just an onsreen presence and she was totally opposite in person,agreessive in nature,harsh and rude.this incident helped me to understand that celebrities do have two faces and they are not as such as they appear onscreen in films.iam not sure about other celebrities,but in laila's case it is 100% true.

we all know that time is precious but it is as precious as what is my question..ya time is incomparable to anything..you cannot compare time to any sort of things in this world it is that much worthy..actually time governs us..we do every little work rt from getting up in the morning and till we go to sleep at night we do everything according to a timing..and we have to do.everylittle work will have a specific deadline..those liitle works will be the best only if it is completed on time.a person who plans time will defenetly know that procastination is the thief of time.a good planner of time would never postone things in life.according to him tomorrow's life is too late,supposed to live today

time ofcouse differs from person to person..it is the time of the parents to sketch the future for their kids,teachers to motivate the children,elders to rest back,younsters to earn money,and for the students it their time to study,score marks,learn discipline in life.
the 10th and the plus two students will know the exact value of time.they might be studying the whole year for their examination and they will be preparing 24hrs a day for their exams but still only 3hrs will be given in the examinations to prove themselves..just 3hrs will determine the future career of the kid writing an exam.every minute is valuable for them,every second is necessary,every hour is essential.the biggest mistake in life i would even say the biggest sin in life is just wasting time,killing time.knowingly or unknowingly we are not supposed to commit this mistake.

we all are running short of time..we dont even have time to say just hi to our dear freinds..everything is going so tight..just ask few questions to yourself,then you will know how much you are eaten away by time..when is the last time you hugged your mom affectinately.when is last time you gave a passionate kiss to your wife\husband,when is last time you have been a romantic dinner with your boyfriend\girlfriend,when is last time you have been for a holiday with your kids..the answers would be quite a long time back..this is where we should be cautious about time,we should not let time to conqer us,once we are conqered by time we will loose the most happiest moments in life,the time that we spend with our dearest ones..even now no one will find to read the entire blog..

time has got two contrasting characters..you cannot save a person out of his difficulties when he is undergoing a very tuf time at the same time you cannot stop the growth and success of the person when very good time favours a person..each everybody from a very ordinary fruitseller to manmohan singh,from A toZ is dominated by this contradictory characters of time.coming to the current affairs..the historic win of barack obama ,the first ever african american in the 44th US presidential elections speaks volumes about the importance of time.obama made impossible possible by winning an election in a predominant white nation.superstar rajinikanth himself waiting for the right time to enter into politics..

dear freinds..each one of us will have a talent of our own..you might be a fantastic hardworker,terific performer,voracious reader,prolific writer,immensely talented..but only when the right time comes your hardwork and talent will be rewarded..till then keep waiting for your own time to come.but one thing..once you cultivate the art of waiting,you can win time..
